2016 Competition Updates

The competitions have been completed. At the Arvada on Tap homebrew competition, neither of the beers we entered placed. We have not seen the feedback on the results, and are looking forward to reviewing that so we can make improvements going forward.

As for the Liquid Libations at the Denver County Fair, Jack’s Amber was second place. Colleen’s Blueberry Blonde reached 4th place, with the Peach Pi and Sassy Plum Cherry close on it’s tail. The Loggerhead Porter was eighth in it’s category. Colleen served as Head Steward, and I Judged (both opting out of serving in the categories in which we entered beers) at this event. All around, it was a great experience!

ProAm & Other Competition News

It is now official:
Our Loggerhead Porter has been accepted as an entry in the ProAm at the Great American Beer Fest, which will take place in October, 2016. Currently, the Loggerhead Porter is in a 46 degree lager environment at The BoB. We will submit it for judging during the first or second week of September. To say we are excited would be an understatement!

Applied Craft Brewing – ProAm GABF 2016

July 3rd, at The Brew On Broadway (BoB)

In an earlier post I mentioned we took second place at 8 Seconds of Froth. The BoB has sponsored our entry of the Loggerhead Porter into the ProAm competition at the Great American Beer Fest.

My wife and I had a blast brewing this beer with Paul and Sam. This is truly an accumulation of everything that I have learned from The Applied Craft Brewing Certificate Program at Regis University, as well as my homebrewing experience.
